Automotive plastic injection moulded component product development experience with a desire to move into the specifics of optical parts design.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain ISO9001 system documentation for design engineering activities.
• Liaison with customers to develop designs in a timely manner.
• Deliver solutions to project timing constraints.
• Support development of engineered solutions to specific market and customer requirements
• Responsible for design and development of lighting systems, including system optimisation.
• Develop tools for optic system design automation.
• Provide guidance and support for optical system design to Optic Design Engineers withing the Team.
• Check that proposed designs can be tooled and manufactured.
• Ensure compliance with performance requirements (National, international, and customer standards).
• Provide cross department assistance and support.
• Co-ordinate prototype production, laboratory measurement and pre-production runs.
• Generate clear and detailed documentation.
• Keep up to date with industry best practices and technology.
• Support project engineering in customer & supplier meetings both on and off site.
• Determine materials requirements on a design specific basis.
• Actively engage with suppliers to confirm technology requirements for all design tasks.
• Support the development of DFMEA documentation.
• Problem solving techniques to develop and quantify optical design.
• Work to company maturation planning.
• Actively own and progress all design activities to completion.
• Implement & develop creative solutions to engineering problems.
Experience Required:
• HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline.
• Catia V5.
• SPEOS (preferred), LucidShape, ASAP, or LightTools
• Experience designing non-imaging optical systems.
• Competent user of MS office packages.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• A passion for technology & product development.
• Innovative, hardworking, and ambitious.
• A thorough attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and abroad.
• Experience working closely with internal and external customers.
• Be self-motivated.
• Must be eligible to work in the United Kingdom.
• Full UK Driving license.
