As a principal engineer in the systems team, you will have the opportunity to lead and drive forward the systems engineering discipline within a UK OEM.
Role joining a small, dynamic, and growing team to support the growth and in-house capability of Systems Engineering within a UK OEM. This team will deliver an exciting road map of class-leading vehicles and offer new solutions to the industry as part of the Client Engineering Technologies.
As Principal Systems Engineer your responsibilities will include:
- Lead a team of system and feature owners in the assurance, design, test and delivery of a feature set.
- Identify and control dependencies of allocated features and systems
- Manage the ongoing implementation and improvement of systems engineering principals, processes and culture.
- Own the delivery of the certain features of the vehicle.
- Manage and deliver V&V activities of the allocated features.
- Manage feature implementation in a Service Orientated Architecture, ensuring service layer and function layer are properly abstracted.
- Review carry over system designs and documentation and perform impact analyses of the application of these designs to a new vehicle and/or architecture
- Liaise and build relationships with a wide cross section of individuals through the business, from the attributes team, diagnostics, and EDS to the SW responsible and test & integration teams.
- Collaborate with matched equivalents within the clients oversees build factory with whom we will be developing a common architecture.
- Regular interaction with the chief and lead engineers within each engineering commodity both within client management team and suppliers.
This position will be key in developing a rapport with engineering teams and support them in implementing systems engineering and supporting processes whilst ensuing organic growth of a systems culture within the teams.
- The candidate must be able to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and manage their time across several ongoing projects will do well in this role.
- They must have the ability to think on their feet and control the development of early-stage projects.
- Inquisitive attitude with a nature to ask the tough questions and approach understanding from new perspectives.
- It is also desirable that that the candidate has Worked with Systemweaver and MBSE Tools
- Able to work within and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Positive attitude towards change and willing to embrace changes to process in the pursuit of more effective and efficient ways of working.
- Comfortable presenting information at a senior level, reporting on progress.
- Occasional travel to other sites / suppliers may be required
- Driving license required
