As the company increases its Digital Prototype and Testing activities, this role will be at the forefront of championing and deploying strategy for less reliance on vehicles and more reliance on simulation and rigs to carryout DV. This role will involve working with multiple stakeholders and practise the Agile Methodology to collaborate and construct an integrated and optimised test plan to deliver robust product on time and budget.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
A key part of the role is to coordinate with various functions and consolidate and review the physical product test requests & justification (test facilities, workshop requirements, rigs and vehicles) and develop an optimised prototype test plan, advocating the road to simulation & rigs JLR strategy, which leads to lesser physical testing time and quicker time to market.
Practise agile methodology to conduct the planning for each sprints and quarter according to programme deliverables and collaborate, cascade, monitor and showcase the progress of the tasks by end of each sprint. You will act as a Project leader to coordinate activities of multiple teams within the Agile framework.
You will need to coordinate with all stakeholders to define and own the physical end to end vehicle DV plan creation and execution. In conjunction with the virtual series team, champion the use of Virtual Methods and Rigs to reduce reliance upon prototype vehicles.
You will manage the plan through the programme life cycle, proactively responding to challenges which could impact vehicle milestones and stakeholders DV plans. Escalating issues as required. Define and manage prototype vehicle, tooling and consumables/spares budgets.
The creation of Prototype Vehicle Specifications to construct prototype builds. Support Prototype builds as required to ensure vehicles are built on time and to agreed quality standards in order to handover and carryout stakeholder’s DV.
To co-ordinate software & hardware updates with the vehicle users, including understanding core system changes and any impact on the Test Plan and report prototype vehicle utilisation, ensuring all our prototype vehicles are being used effectively. Support re-use planning and de-fleeting of the prototype vehicles. Lead and implement the vehicle camouflage strategy.
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, process and execution
- Previous experience in electric vehicle programmes and prototype vehicle build
