Job Description:
As a Simulator Engineer, you will be an integral part of our Simulation department, collaborating closely with Project X and contributing to the development of advanced cockpit and avionics designs for future aviation platforms. You will play a crucial role in the development of the Project X Active Cockpit simulator and its supporting utilities. From software development to trial preparation, execution, and analysis, you will enjoy a diverse range of responsibilities that offer both technical challenges and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop software for the Project X Active Cockpit simulator, ensuring adherence to schedule and quality standards.
- Take ownership of requirements, design, implementation, system integration, and testing.
- Employ systems engineering practices and produce relevant technical documentation.
- Collaborate with team members and provide progress reports to leadership.
- Design technical solutions, integrating commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and software.
- Manage technical risks and support customer systems.
- Mentor and lead team members, contributing to their professional development.
- Contribute to the refinement of development processes.
- Develop system architectures to meet evolving IT and IT Security requirements.
- Explore new opportunities for the department and broader Test & Evaluation endeavors.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maths, or Physics.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming using Visual Studio.
- Project X domain knowledge, especially cockpit Human Machine Interface (HMI).
- Familiarity with configuration control tools, particularly Mercurial.
- Independent and proactive, capable of thriving in a fluid environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and creativity.
- Security Clearance (SC) is mandatory.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in Task Leading responsibilities, including QMS documentation.
- Mentoring experience.
- Linux knowledge and experience.
- Avionics/Mission systems domain expertise.
- Familiarity with Jira for software task management.
- Understanding of Simulation Interoperability standards (HLA/DIS/Link16).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Confidence in presenting to diverse stakeholders.
- General military aircraft domain knowledge and interest.
Qualifications:
- HND/HNC or degree (BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng) in a relevant STEM-based subject or equivalent experience.
- Sole British National with the ability to pass background checks (SC clearance) for the Defence related project
